Artificial intelligence is moving faster than most organisations can govern it. Its environmental impact can be seen in data-centre energy demand, cooling water, hardware lifecycles, electronic waste and carbon emissions. Its social impact is changing education, employment, professional competence, privacy, inclusion and the distribution of opportunity. Its governance impact raises more difficult questions: Who is accountable? What evidence is required? When should concerns be escalated? How can an AI-supported decision be explained, audited and defended?
